Libra New Moon energy update — change and choice
Change doesn’t happen overnight, but small, incremental changes over time lead to huge shifts.
Hey Witches,
As the Wheel turns once again, a perceptible shift is occurring. The mornings and evenings are cooler and darker, rain is making a welcome reappearance, and the leaves are beginning to turn shades of red, gold, and orange. It’s often said that the only constant in life is change. And while many changes — like the changing of the seasons — are beyond our control, other changes come about as a result of our choices.
When you’re young, with your whole life stretching before you, it feels like anything is possible — and in many ways, it is. It’s like standing on top of a mountain looking at a distant horizon — you could go in any direction. Many paths lead you towards the horizon — one takes you through a dense forest, another leads you past open meadows, and yet another takes you to a secret grotto under a waterfall. Each path takes you to a different destination.
But you can’t choose all of them. You have to make one choice at a time, and with every choice you make, all the other paths and opportunities available in that moment close. There’s no going back — you can only move forward along your chosen path. It may have unexpected twists and turns, and it may lead to other paths that you could never have imagined, but it will never lead you back to those original choices you once had. They don’t exist anymore.
And so one day you wake up and realise your whole life has changed — often in ways you never could have imagined, both good and bad. Last weekend I was sitting on a beach on the Costa Brava when it hit me that I’m living a life my younger self would have considered “the dream” — working remotely from Barcelona as a writer for a UK-based company, freelancing on the side, running a newsletter and Moon circles, and reading cards and helping people in my spare time. All the choices I made along the way led to me creating this reality, but there are many other versions of “the dream” that I never realised — and probably never will.
Change and choice are big themes around this Libra New Moon, so let’s take a look at what the energy may have in store for us.
Libra New Moon energy update
The Libra New Moon will fall on the 25th of September, just two days after the autumn equinox in the northern hemisphere. Represented by the scales and associated with the equinox, when night and day are perfectly equal in both hemispheres, themes associated with Libra include balance, justice, harmony, relationships, and the harvest.
You don’t need me to tell you that division energy is rife in the world right now. But no matter where you stand on the burning issues of the day, the Libra New Moon is asking us to think before we speak (especially with Mars taking an extra-long tour through Gemini and Mercury now retrograde). Before attacking others whose opinions differ from ours, let’s first remember our common humanity.
We are more similar than we are different. We share the same basic needs and the desire to live a rich and fulfilling life surrounded by loved ones. Is it possible that those who wield power are sowing divisive rhetoric to prevent us from coming together and mobilising around the threats humanity is currently facing? Can you recognise yourself in someone else, even if they vote for a different political party or have a different view on social issues?
Because Libra is represented by the scales, it also represents justice. The Libra New Moon asks us to be honest with ourselves about our privileges and how we may benefit from injustice. This is an uncomfortable exercise but an important one. By acknowledging how we benefit from injustice, we can see how we might be perpetuating it and what we can do to change that. This is a great time to set or renew your intentions around decolonising your beliefs, lifestyle, and spiritual practices. It’s also a good time to recommit to anti-racist learning.
Mars in Gemini may make you more impulsive with your words, but it’s also activating your throat chakra and voice. Ask yourself how you can speak out against injustice when you see it.
The Libra New Moon will shine a light on our relationships and ask us to examine any imbalances. It also asks us to look at the inner balance between masculine and feminine. We live in an over-masculinised world, where the feminine has been repressed, demonised, devalued, and discouraged. By finding greater balance between our own inner masculine and feminine, we can bring more balance to the outer world.
The Libra New Moon corresponds to the Two of Swords in Tarot — you may be facing a choice right or feel torn between two options but are blinded by your ego attachments to the outcome. For example, perhaps you’re chasing a love interest who you know is no good for you, but you’re attached to the idea of being with them. The message of this card and the Libra New Moon is to tap into the power of your intuition (represented by the Crescent Moon). But since Mercury is currently retrograde, you may want to hold off on making any decisions until it goes direct on the 2nd of October.
This New Moon is happening at two degrees of Libra, for which the Sabian symbol is, “the dawn of a new day reveals everything changed.” Sabian symbols are descriptive images for each of the 360 degrees of the zodiac that were channelled by medium Elsie Wheeler in 1925 with the help of astrologer Marc Edmund Jones.
This is a reminder that change doesn’t happen overnight, but small, incremental changes over time lead to huge shifts. One day we wake up and realise that our lives — and ourselves — are completely transformed.
Two degrees of Libra is also a sign of encouragement for those of you who feel like giving up on your goals. Don’t! You’re so close to the breakthrough, and everything you’ve been dreaming of is waiting for you on the other side of your current challenges.
For some of you, the New Moon at two degrees of Libra signals radical inner transformations and embracing new perspectives and ideas. You are letting go of your old conditioning and remembering who you really are. As your consciousness shifts, you no longer adhere to old beliefs that don’t align with your inner truth.
Card of the week
Every other Friday, I pull a card to provide guidance for subscribers of The Coven.
This week, I’m using my Work Your Light oracle deck by Rebecca Campbell, and the card I’ve pulled for you is “Awakening.”
This card is a reminder of your divine nature and suggests you’re stepping into a new state of being. You might have creative urges around important ideas or truths and feel called to share your gifts, experience, and life lessons in service of others. Perhaps you want to write a book, start a blog, paint channelled pictures, or create a course or workshop. This card is encouraging you to follow those creative urges without attachment to the outcome.
However, it also suggests now is not the time to rush headlong into projects but instead take time for rest and introspection. This card always reminds me of the Hanged Man in Tarot — just chilling and waiting for the perfect time to act.
Remember, retrograde season is in full swing, with six planets currently putting on the cosmic brakes and Mars preparing to join the party in October. By all means, make plans, but you might want to hold off on taking action until after Mercury retrograde and the October solar eclipse.
The same Crescent Moon that appears in the Two of Swords is also on this card. This is a message to tap into your inner truth and intuition by tuning in to the wisdom of your heart. Information is important, but when we rely on our minds to make decisions, we confuse ourselves and get lost in ego stories. Spend some time connecting with your heart space and take note of any images, words, messages, or inspiration that come through.
This card also reminds us that transformation happens when we drop into that space of just being — the quiet inner sanctuary of the heart. Rushing, pushing, and forcing will not bring about changes quicker. We can achieve so much more when we surrender and stop doing. Rest is a form of productivity.
When was the last time you allowed yourself to just be? To stare up at the clouds and watch them form dragons, angels, dogs, and old men with big noses? How can you do more things that bring you joy and less of what doesn’t?
You may have heard talk of energetic upgrades and shifting into 5D. This can be an abstract concept, and you might be wondering what it looks like. Know that these upgrades are happening at a planetary level, whether you tangibly experience them or not. These energies are being pushed through your system to create new ways of being — you don’t have to do anything to receive them. In fact, the best way to integrate these energies is through stillness and quiet, allowing your energy to open to receiving them.

Journaling prompts
These prompts are designed to get you thinking. Answer as many or as few as you like and allow your mind to meander on the page.
What injustices do I benefit from/what are my privileges? How can I dismantle internal systems of injustice and oppression? How can I speak out against injustice?
Review your plans for the rest of the year. Is there anything that no longer feels aligned that you can let go of? Highlight two or three priorities and focus on those.
What projects feel stuck right now? Where do you feel blocked? Review these situations to see what’s blocking you — is it a lack of information? Time? Inspiration? Take note and brainstorm ways to take action once retrograde and eclipse season are over in early November.
Are you facing a choice right now? Detach from the emotions surrounding it and make a list of pros and cons.
If you feel stuck, look back on how far you’ve come. How is your life different from a year ago, or even five or ten years ago? What have you achieved? How have you changed/grown/evolved? What lessons have you learned?
What lessons or divine inspiration do you want to share with the world? What does that look like?
Ask your guides or higher self a question or for inspiration, then free write whatever comes through.
Thank you for joining me for this week’s Libra New Moon energy update. I hope it resonates with you and you find the guidance useful.
As you know, I spend a lot of time pouring my heart and soul into this newsletter, and I’m so grateful to all of you for being here to read it.
As I evolve as a channel, intuitive, astrologer, card reader, and writer, you might have noticed these updates gradually becoming longer and more in-depth.
They’re also taking longer to write at a time when I’m juggling multiple competing priorities and still deep in grief after the loss of my mum.
For this reason, I’ve decided to remove the card readings (for now). What I want to know from you is: if I add paid subscriptions and send weekly card readings to paying subscribers, would you consider a monthly subscription of $5 per month?
Vote below to let me know!
Love and blessings,
Victoria
