Hey Witches,
Welcome to this week’s energy update for the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Taurus and the month of May.
This is the first of four eclipses happening on the Taurus-Scorpio axis this year. Taurus rules finances, career, and material wealth, while Scorpio is the sign of sex, death, rebirth, and transformation. But transformation comes with a price tag. We have to allow that which no longer serves us to die in order to be reborn. This is a powerful time to let go of all that which is no longer serving you to open yourself up to the limitless joy and abundance that are your birthright.
Eclipses tend to accelerate our growth and healing, and we can harness the eclipse to make quantum leaps in our development. With the energy of the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Pisces still active, expansion of consciousness is a strong theme around this time. The eclipse may bring events that push you towards a more expanded consciousness, heightened psychic abilities, and sharper intuition.
Venus now joins Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces in a rare triple conjunction, making it a good time for creative endeavours — possibly around this theme of expanded consciousness. When you become aware of your truth, ask yourself how you’re going to commit to living it and sharing it with the world.
Here’s an example from my own life. I’m currently training as a Priestess of the divine feminine and working with the goddess Brigid (to learn more about her, I recommend the book “Brigid” by Courtney Weber). This is my authentic calling, but I’ve been afraid to share about it publicly for fear of judgement and misunderstanding — I’ve definitely received a lot of puzzled looks from friends who I’ve told about it. So my work this month will be to let go of those blocks that prevent me from fully living my truth and find a way to express it authentically.
The eclipse portal will remain open until the Full Moon lunar eclipse on the 15th/16th of May (depending where you are in the world). Eclipse portals are powerful times for shadow work, or the process of reintegrating your “shadows” — the parts of yourself that have become disassociated due to past trauma (for more on shadow work, refer to the works of Carl Jung).
Reintegrating our shadows helps us become whole again and step into our truth. This ties into the theme that I have channelled for The Coven this month — authenticity.
When we allow our consciousness to expand, we become more aware of the truth of who we are. This enables us to discern old stories, beliefs, and patterns from our authentic selves and allows us to let go of any ideas we no longer align with. When we do this, we step into our truth.
Embracing our authentic selves and speaking our truth raises our vibration and makes us magnetic. Material wealth and abundance flow to us more easily — sometimes from unexpected sources. You never know what doors might open when you start to live more authentically.
As you move through the month, reflect on what authenticity means to you and how you can step into a more authentic version of yourself (you might want to use the journaling prompts below).
Finally, the Taurus New Moon heralds the arrival of Beltane on Sunday 1st May. One of the four Celtic fire festivals, Beltane represents the peak of spring and beginning of summer and marks the halfway point between the spring equinox and summer solstice.
Some of the themes of Beltane — which means “bright fire” — include passion, sexuality, creativity, and material abundance in all its forms. It is a time to honour the Earth and harness the creative energy that’s crescendoing at this time. If you’re on a fertility journey, this is an auspicious time for fertility rituals.
Card of the week
Every week, I pull a card to provide guidance for subscribers of The Coven.
This week I’m using my “Work Your Light” by Rebecca Campbell oracle deck and two cards have jumped out of the deck to bring a message through for you.
The first is Warrior Woman. This is such an empowering card that reminds us of the deep power and awesome strength that lies within the feminine. We tend to think of the feminine as passive and weak, but really it is anything but. The feminine has suffered oppression for millennia at the hands of the patriarchy, and yet it cannot be crushed or destroyed. This is the endurance and strength of the warrior woman.
She reminds us that spiritual awakening is not all about “love and light”. Sometimes we are called to battle, often against the systems of oppression that have become internalised patterns and beliefs. To stand up for your truth and authenticity can require the strength and determination of a warrior. This card reminds you that the Warrior Woman archetype lives inside you, too, and you can draw on her power whenever you need it.
The second card is Pleiades. The Pleiadeans are a race of enlightened beings from the Seven Sisters star system who many believe are guiding humanity towards its next phase of evolution — the evolution of consciousness.
This card is for those of you who may still be in doubt about your spiritual calling. It is encouraging you to continue walking your spiritual path, wherever it may lead, because the world needs your gifts. Nature doesn’t make mistakes. She created you for a purpose. You’re the only one capable of serving humanity with your unique perspectives and talents — and this is what you came here for.
These cards tie powerfully into the themes of authenticity and expansion of consciousness and reassure us that by answering the call, we will be guided and protected along the way.
Taurus New Moon and Beltane ritual suggestions
Ideas to help you harness the energy of the Taurus New Moon.
New Moons are always a good time to set intentions. The energy of this Moon will be particularly supportive of intentions around money, material wealth and abundance, and fertility.
Because of the influence of Scorpio during this eclipse portal, this is also a good time to let go of that which no longer aligns with our truth and transmute pain into something more positive. Since Beltane is a fire festival, you might want to use fire to burn away the old so that the new can rise from the ashes.
Beltane is also associated with fairies. If you want to work with these beings, or already feel their presence in your life, you might want to consider making them an offering of flowers and fruit.
Journaling prompts
These prompts are designed to get you thinking. Answer as many or as few as you like and allow your mind to meander on the page.
Which beliefs or aspects of myself do I hide for fear of judgement?
In which areas of my life do I hide my authentic self?
How can I find ways to be more authentic?
What am I afraid of losing if I show up authentically?
Which shadows do I avoid looking at? How can I rewrite the script about those parts of myself?
How can I be more honest with myself?
What do I want to create in my life and in the world?
What are my spiritual beliefs? How can I live in greater alignment with them?
Wishing you all a blessed Beltane and a peaceful Taurus New Moon!
I’ll be celebrating in ceremony down on the beach with some of the magical women in my life.
What will you do? Hit reply and let me know.
Love and blessings,
Victoria
