Taurus Blood Moon — reaching breaking point
Something is going to shift, and we’ll never be quite the same again.
Hey Witches,
The commercial holiday of Halloween may be behind us, but the season of Samhain (pronounced “Sah-ween”) — the pagan festival from which it derives — has only just begun.
Traditionally, Samhain was the time of the final harvest and marked the passage into the dark half of the year. At this time, people gathered the food that would carry them through the winter, gave thanks to the land and its spirits for the harvest, and turned to the ancestors for protection and guidance through the darkness.
Samhain marks a natural turning inward as the longer hours of darkness set in. At Samhain, we’re asked to look more closely at death and our relationship with it. The ancient cultures understood that death is a part of life, seeing it as just as important a transition as birth.
At Samhain, not only do we honour the dead — we also examine the parts of ourselves that need to die — whether those are old habits that no longer serve us, addictions, negative thought patterns or beliefs, or even relationships that no longer feel fulfilling and aligned.
Samhain always falls during Scorpio season, as does the Taurus Full Moon. Scorpio, like Samhain, is associated with death and transformation. The dark side of Scorpio is deceit, secrets, lies, manipulation, and toxicity.
This year, the Taurus Full Moon will be a Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse because it’s a total eclipse that will turn the Moon an eerie reddish colour. This is a relatively rare astronomical event — the next one won’t take place until 2025.
With the Full Moon shining in Taurus, secrets may come to light. On the other hand, with the light of the Moon dimming on the night of the 8th, things may not be quite as they appear.
Let’s take a look at what the Taurus Blood Moon Eclipse might bring.
Taurus Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse energy update
This lunation will close the Eclipse portal that began on the 25th of October with the Scorpio New Moon. Eclipses often bring about sudden, permanent change, and their effects can still be felt up to six months later.
This particular Eclipse feels like a turning point. Tension has been building for a long time and is reaching breaking point. Something is going to shift, and we’ll never be quite the same again.
Because the effects of the Eclipse can be felt for a long time after the event, there won’t necessarily be any big, dramatic events on the day (although there might be!). In most cases, situations will likely unfold gradually.
How this Eclipse affects you will depend on where you have Taurus in your chart. However, this stubborn fixed sign doesn’t like change, so you may feel an internal push and pull as you shed layers of your old self and step into what’s calling you.
The Taurus-Scorpio axis that these Eclipses are occurring on is deeply connected to money and finance. Earthy Taurus is the sign of material wealth and security, while Scorpio and its ruling planet Pluto preside over big money, like investments and financial institutions.
Eclipses always happen on the Moon’s nodes — the point where the Sun and Moon’s paths cross. The south node represents our karma and past lives, while the north node represents our future and destiny. Since this is a north node eclipse, it’s likely to usher in changes that will affect our future — especially in finances, material wealth, and relationships.
Venus, Mercury, and the Sun are all opposing the Eclipse in Scorpio, the sign of death, rebirth, and transformation. Venus is currently travelling through the underworld following the Venus Star Point that took place on the 22nd of October. The Venus Star Point marks the moment when Venus begins to make its transition from the morning star to the evening star. It becomes invisible for up to 80 days before re-emerging above the horizon.
With Venus in Scorpio opposing the Blood Moon, we may see drama playing out in our relationships. The planet of love and beauty rules Taurus and is deeply connected to our romantic lives. For some, conversations might take place around the future of your partnership that could have a lasting impact — whether that’s taking the relationship to a deeper level or deciding it’s time to part ways.
Mercury in Scorpio will amplify this effect, making us crave greater intimacy and open up more vulnerably about our inner worlds and deepest darkest secrets. You may feel more highly aware of your fears and desires and wish to express them. Don’t be surprised if some shocking confessions come to light!
However, with Mars now retrograde in Gemini, it’s a good idea to think before you speak. Mars, the planet of action and war, does not like being forced to slow down by its retrograde, which only happens roughly every two years. Until Mars turns direct on the 12th of January, you may experience feelings of intense frustration and impatience.
While it might feel like Mars retrograde slams on the cosmic brakes, it’s actually a really good time to take a step back and examine your life rather than rushing headlong through it, always on the go. Reexamine your actions and motivations, assess your energy levels, and learn to balance your masculine and feminine sides.
Finally, watery Neptune, ruler of dreams, illusions, and the subconscious, is joined in its home sign of Pisces by Jupiter, the planet of expansion. The two gas giants united in Pisces in April and May of this year, accelerating our spiritual growth. Pay extra attention to your dreams and intuition around this time. You may receive sudden downloads, realisations, ideas, or creative inspiration.
Taurus Blood Moon self-care tips
Taurus rules the throat, so this is a good time to work on healing around communication and using your voice. Try chanting “Ham”, the bija mantra for throat chakra healing.
Indulge your senses with a massage or an essential oil bath.
Get grounded, for example, by:
Spending time in nature
Doing a grounding meditation
Gentle yoga asana (downward dog, tree, and cobra pose are great ones for this Eclipse)
Eating root vegetables and red fruits and vegetables
Taurus Blood Moon Eclipse ritual — money spell jar
Some people prefer not to work with eclipse energy, while others say they do because the energy is more potent. Follow your intuition and do what feels right for you.
Materials (feel free to substitute with whatever you have at home):
A piece of paper and a pen
A green candle
Green ribbon or thread
Some coins and/or a banknote
Cinnamon
Bay leaves
Star anise
Calendula or chamomile
A crystal such as red jasper, jade, clear quartz, green aventurine, or sodalite
Start by cleansing yourself and your space using sound, smoke, or any preferred method. Ground and centre yourself by closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths.
When you feel ready, write the amount of money you wish to receive on the piece of paper. Visualise what you will do when you receive this money, and connect with the emotion of it.
Then, begin placing each of the items in the jar except the ribbon/thread and candle, saying something like:
“With these herbs, I magnetise
Money appears before my eyes
Cinnamon for luck and prosperity
Bay leaf for protection over me
Star anise will lend its power
While calendula makes money shower
Jasper* attracts it all to me
As I will, so mote it be.”
* Switch with the name of the stone you’re using.
Once you’ve spoken the incantation and placed all the items in the jar, close it and tie the ribbon around the seal, wrapping it three times.
Hold the jar in your hands and focus on your intention once again, visualising that energy flowing through your hands and into the jar.
Then, place the candle on top and light it so that the wax drips down and seals the jar. Keep your spell jar somewhere you will see it often to remind you of your intention.
Taurus Blood Moon journaling prompts
These prompts are designed to get you thinking. Answer as many or as few as you like and allow your mind to meander on the page.
On a piece of paper, write a list of your limiting beliefs around money. Then in your journal, rewrite each of them as a new, positive belief. Burn the list of negative beliefs and use the new ones as affirmations.
Write about your dream home in as much detail as possible. Write in the present tense, as if you already live there.
Prepare for a difficult conversation by writing down what you want to say first.
Keep a dream journal.
Write a list of fears or limiting beliefs that are holding you back, then burn it.
Write about your shadow side — the aspects of yourself that you reject. How can you rewrite your stories in a way that’s more compassionate towards yourself?
Journal about anything you want to manifest.
Use free writing to connect with your intuition and channel messages for yourself.
Are you more connected to your masculine or feminine energy? Which feels more out of balance? What can you do to balance them?
Do you still feel aligned with the goals you set yourself this year?
What is the motivation behind your current goals or projects? Do they still energise you?
Are you feeling the energy of the upcoming Eclipse yet?
Has anything shifted since the Scorpio Solar Eclipse that took place on the October New Moon? Are any common themes arising from around the time of the Scorpio Lunar Eclipse back in May?
Share your stories in the comments, and let’s support each other as we ride out the storm.
Love and blessings,
