There’s some powerful energy building both cosmically and down here on the terrestrial plane as we move through Beltane season and edge closer to Litha, or Midsummer.
Nature is burgeoning like the crescendo of a piano concerto. Anticipation hangs in the air like mist on a summer morning.
With all this action going on, it can be easy to forget to slow down and take a breather — especially if you’re busy working hard towards your goals.
But the energy this weekend supports taking a step back to reset and refocus.
Let’s dive into the action and how best you can harness this energy through quick and simple yet effective rituals.
This week’s suggestions include Yin yoga, a Beltane planting ritual, a jar spell for financial abundance, and a communication spell.
In the stars
Jupiter in Pisces
Jupiter, the planet of growth and expansion, as well as the ruler of metaphysics, philosophy, and religion, is currently transiting through Pisces (May 13th – July 28th).
Watery Pisces represents the subconscious mind, making this a great time to connect with your intuition and spirituality.
Use the following affirmation to awaken your psychic and creative potential during this transit:
I am whole. I am complete. I awaken to my greatest potential.
Sun in Gemini
The Sun swung into Gemini, the sign of the twins, on May 20th.
Gemini is the sign of communication, collaboration, business partnerships, and romantic pairings.
You might start a new joint business venture or romance during this transit.
And with Mercury — Gemini’s ruling planet — due to go retrograde on May 29th in Gemini, you might even find yourself pairing up with someone from your past.
Physically, Gemini rules the shoulders, lungs, arms, hands, and fingers.
Use the following Yin yoga poses as inspiration for your Gemini-season practice.
Melting Heart Pose
Broken Wing Pose
Bananasana
Reclining Twist
Moon magic
Moon phase: Waxing Gibbous
This is a Yin moon phase and the last one before the full moon in Sagittarius on May 26th.
It will be a rare Super Blood Moon, taking place at the moon’s closest point to the Earth.
It will also be the first full lunar eclipse in two and a half years.
The May full moon is also known as the Flower Moon or Hare Moon, and it is associated with fertility, prosperity, and abundance.
Eclipses are energetic portals that often usher in release from our lives, even when we’re not looking for it.
Trust that anything that falls away around this full moon is in your highest divine good.
Ritual suggestions
Turn inward
Take some time this weekend to give yourself a break. You’ve been working hard towards your goals. The waxing gibbous invites you to take your foot off the gas to reassess your plans.
Take stock of what’s working, what isn’t, any details you’ve overlooked, and anything that you can let go of.
Look back on how far you’ve come, and celebrate your progress.
Harness the energy of the Yin moon to rest and recharge this weekend.
Beltane planting ritual
It doesn’t matter whether you have an acre of land or a windowsill herb garden. Anyone can work with the energy of Beltane using this simple planting ritual.
You will need:
Seeds or seedlings
Pots and potting soil (if you don’t have a garden)
Water
Gardening tools
Once you have gathered your supplies, start by preparing the soil.
As you dig your hands into the dirt, connect with the elements.
Consciously observe the feeling of the Earth between your fingers.
Tune into the sensation of the wind, the element of Air, caressing your face and tousling your hair.
Thank the rain Water that nurtures your garden and all life on our planet.
Feel (or imagine) the sun on your face, connecting you to the element of Fire.
Feel the energy of Spirit that flows through all things and connects you with nature.
As you prepare the soil, call upon Divinity in any way that speaks to you.
You may want to say something like:
God and Goddess, I honour you by planting the seeds of life,
Deep within the womb of the Earth.
I ask that you watch over it and grant it abundance,
That these plants grow strong and fertile
Under your watchful eyes.
So mote it be!
Once the soil is ready to receive the seeds or seedlings, plant them in the pots or in the ground.
As you plant each one, offer a simple blessing, such as,
May the soil be blessed as the womb of the land
Becomes full and fruitful to bring forth the garden anew.
God and Goddess, bless this seed.
Try to stay as present as possible to the energy and physical sensations of working with the Earth element.
Once you’ve finished planting, it’s time to water your seeds or seedlings.
As you do, call upon Divinity again by saying something like:
God and Goddess, I honour you by planting these seeds.
I ask your blessing upon my fertile soil.
I will tend this garden and keep it healthy,
Watching over it in your name.
If you want to give your ritual extra oomph and harness the energy of the waxing gibbous moon, try writing out your intentions or things you want to manifest and planting them under the plants.
Financial abundance jar spell
Materials:
Cinnamon
Parsley
Dill
Stone for attracting money, such as pyrite, clear quartz, bloodstone, citrine, or jade
A banknote
A green candle
Wrap your crystal in the banknote. Place the cinnamon, parsley, and dill in the jar.
Light the candle and incant 10 times:
I sow the seeds of wealth wherever I go;
I reap my riches; to me, money constantly flows.
Drip wax over the ingredients, blow out the candle, then place the candle, crystal, and banknote in the jar.
Communication spell
Use this spell before navigating any difficult conversations, especially during Mercury retrograde.
Materials:
Small piece of turquoise or turquoise jewellery
Visualize yourself delivering your message calmly and clearly. Hold the stone in your hand and incant:
Stone of sheer diplomacy
Make my voice heard, let all see
The point that I must make today
And clear all cloudiness away
So that it hits its mark with ease
As I will, so mote it be.
Carry or wear the stone.
