New Moon in Libra — being who you came to be
Hey Witches,
Have you ever felt like you wanted something so bad, but no matter what you did, you couldn’t get it?
Maybe it was a person you wanted to be in a relationship with, a job or career, a house you wanted to buy, or even a car.
At the time, it might have been upsetting. Devastating even. You didn’t know how your life was going to continue without that person/job/thing.
But, as time passed, you licked your wounds and moved on, and new people, jobs, and things came into your life, and perhaps you even found yourself thinking that you’d had a lucky escape, and thank goodness you didn’t end up with that person because you would have never met the one you’re with now… And, suddenly, you realise what a blessing it was not to have got what you wanted when you thought you wanted it.
The ego is a trickster. It can fool you into thinking you absolutely must have something, even when that thing is not right for you at all. But your heart never lies. It continues to guide you towards your highest purpose and most fulfilling life, but the catch is its guidance doesn’t always make sense until further down the line. Following the path of the heart with faith takes a lot of courage and a little bit of crazy, but you must walk it anyway, knowing that what’s meant for you will find you.
And that’s what the energy is all about this October. Today’s Libra New Moon brings with it the energy of new beginnings, not only because the New Moon is always a chance to start afresh, but also because Pluto — ruler of death, rebirth, and transformation — goes direct after a 5-month retrograde.
This is a moment to break free of limiting patterns, beliefs, situations, and anything that’s holding you back. You might be feeling close to breaking point with certain situations in your life that no longer align with who you’re becoming. Break the chains. Enough is enough! It’s time to rise from the ashes and ask yourself who you really are without all your unconscious patterns and conditioning — and then be that person.
When you align with your soul truth, miracles happen, but it’s not always rainbows and unicorns. Sometimes it requires a shedding process that isn’t exactly comfortable. In fact, transformation can be downright painful. When I feel resistance to change coming up, I think of the caterpillar, who literally turns herself into liquid goo so she can be reborn as a butterfly. Let yourself become goo. One day you’ll be glad you did.
As retrograde season comes to an end this month, with four planets turning direct, forward momentum will resume, and the potential for rapid manifestation will be high. Be careful what you wish for! Call in your truth, and manifestation will happen fast.
The Moon is not the only celestial body in Libra today. The Sun, Mercury, and Mars are all at the party, supercharging Libran energy and the theme of balance. The Sun is our truth, Mercury is communication, and Mars represents action. This stellium is activating our ability to stand in our truth, speak our truth, and live our truth. Ask yourself what’s holding you back and where you need to find more balance.

Affirmation
Use this affirmation in meditation, write it out repeatedly in your journal, or simply stick it on your mirror to remind yourself every day: “I choose to live my truth as fully as possible.”
Journal prompt
“How can I align more fully with my truth? How can I share it with the world?”
A spell to align with your heart’s truth
Materials:
1 white candle
Dried coriander (cilantro)
Vegetable oil
1 clear quartz crystal
Pen and paper
Close your eyes and spend a few minutes focusing on your breath. Notice any automatic thoughts that arise.
When you feel ready, open your eyes and start writing any thoughts, beliefs, or situations that are holding you back from embodying your truth. When you’ve written everything you can think of, safely burn the paper in a heatproof container.
Then take your candle and anoint it with the vegetable oil, starting at the tips and moving towards the centre. Then sprinkle the dried coriander onto it in the same way.
Light the candle, and as you do, say something like:
Truth and clarity now come to me
Open my eyes that I may see
And let all that is meant to be
Manifest in my reality
Coriander attune me to my soul
And the path that will make me whole
With quartz, my mind will be set free
As I will, so mote it be.
Hold the clear quartz crystal in your hands and charge it with your intention to align with your soul and receive clarity. Continue meditating for a few more minutes, then when you feel ready, open your eyes.
Leave the quartz in front of the candle until it burns down. Use the crystal any time you feel out of alignment.
