Blood Moon Eclipse in Taurus — transformation and rebirth
Hey Witches,
As Scorpio season comes to an end, thoughts of death, transformation, and rebirth are never far from my mind — this time in a very real and personal sense after the death of my beloved mum. As I travel deep into the underworld and the bosom of the dark goddess, there is a tiny glimmer of light. The seeds of transformation have been sown. In spite of the pain of loss so deep it feels like it’s tearing my soul apart, there is hope.
I’m writing to you on the day after the longest lunar eclipse of the century and the first of a new eclipse season on the Taurus-Scorpio axis. The theme for this eclipse season, which will last throughout 2022, is soul evolution, growth, and transformation.
Eclipses are powerful portals for transformation that can accelerate our spiritual awakening. They often bring about sudden changes that set things in motion and keep us moving forward. These events can be painful and require time to adjust to, but ultimately they catapult us towards spiritual growth.
Eclipses are considered to have a chaotic, yet potent, energy. Some witches feel comfortable harnessing and working with eclipse energy, while others prefer to use the eclipse as a time for rest and reflection. The Full Moon portal spans the days before and after the Full Moon, which means that magickal workings on these days still harness its energy and power.
I personally took the eclipse window to rest, having crossed three international borders in the week following the funeral — including driving 900 km with our cat. But there’s still time to work with the Taurus Full Moon energy tonight. In keeping with the theme of death, transformation, and rebirth, I will be releasing the parts of myself that need to die in order for me to transform and be reborn.
Taurus Full Blood Moon ritual suggestion
A spell to release that which no longer serves
This simple spell will help you to release old patterns, beliefs, pains, relationships, situations, or anything else that’s holding you back from your evolution and awakening.
Materials:
1 white candle
A handful of bay leaves
1 marker pen
A fireproof container
Cleanse and clear your space and yourself with smoke, steam, or sound. Cast a circle if you wish to. Then sit down, close your eyes, and take a few moments to focus on your breath.
When you’re ready, light the candle, and say something like:
Sacred element of fire, hear my cry
Help me to destroy that which must die
Transmute my pain into something new
Do this now, I ask of you.
Continue to meditate until you feel ready to start writing. Then, take the pen and bay leaves and write the first thing you want to release on a bay leaf. Burn it with the flame from the candle, envisaging that part of yourself transforming as you do so, then place the leaf in the fireproof container. Repeat the process with as many leaves as necessary.
