Aries Full Moon energy update — finding our resilience
Even as we travel through the depths of pain, grief, and despair, there is still beauty and joy in the world.
Hey Witches,
Welcome to your October Full Moon update. This month is going to be intense, to say the least, with a fiery Full Moon in Aries followed by a New Moon Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on the 25th.
October is also, of course, the month of Samhain, also known as the Witch’s New Year, and witches everywhere are preparing to honour the dead and welcome the spirits of those who have passed on into their homes.
As many of you know, this October will be particularly poignant for me, as it will mark the first anniversary of my mum’s unexpected passing. I really can’t believe it’s been almost a year already, as I can still barely believe that it’s actually real. I’ve struggled to accept my mum’s passing for many reasons — the fact that it was so sudden and unexpected (she was basically fit and healthy one day and dead the next), the post-mortem results raised more questions than they answered, I hadn’t seen her in two years because of the pandemic, and I never got to see the body, so it’s basically like she just vanished off the face of the Earth.
Needless to say, it has been the most difficult year of my life. My mum was my best friend, and losing her at 35 has made me grow up very fast in ways you can’t imagine until it happens to you. What makes it even worse is that our family unit, rather than coming together through such a difficult time, seems to be falling apart. I honestly don’t know how I find the strength to keep going most days.
But enough about me and my grief. Let’s get on to the Aries Full Moon energy update (and if you want to read more of my writing on grief, go follow me on Medium. I’ll be publishing more grief content over there soon).
Aries Full Moon energy update
Hang onto your broomsticks, witches — shit’s about to get real with this Aries Full Moon. Aries is the sign of new beginnings, fire, passion, self-sufficiency, resilience, and volatility. Ruled by Mars, the god of war, Aries is passionate, go-get-’em energy.
But Aries can also be fiery-tempered and stubborn and is prone to burning itself with its own fire (as a double Aries, I can confirm). Emotions always tend to run high during a Full Moon, and in the run-up to eclipse season, we’re already starting to feel the energies of the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Scorpio, which will be followed by a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus on the 8th of November.
The Saturn-Jupiter and Eris-Pluto squares that have been prominent throughout 2021 and 2022 will be coming back into exactitude around this Full Moon, intensifying the power struggles between the old and the new, the people versus the powers that be. We can already see this playing out across the world — for example, the revolution that’s taking place in Iran. These squares may have you calling into question your belief systems, and things you thought you knew about the world may start to appear false.
Pluto will be stationing direct during this Full Moon, amplifying its power and adding to the assertive energy of Aries. Since the Moon is opposing the Sun and Venus in Libra, you may experience power struggles in some of your relationships or witness people making assertions of power. You might feel like you’re being tested under this Full Moon — Aries asks you to dig deep and find your resilience.
Mars is still in Gemini, where it will remain until February 2023, energising our minds, creativity, and new ideas. But it may also lead to information overload and racing or obsessive thoughts. Mercury, in its home sign of Virgo, amplifies the urge to analyse — and perhaps over-analyse.
In addition, a T-Square between Mercury, Mars, and Neptune in Pisces could lead to illusion, confusion, and manipulation, all of which will be amplified by Jupiter conjunct Neptune. With the current state of affairs in the world, it’s easy to get dragged into the energy of fear. The invitation here is not to try to figure out the truth with your mind but instead to drop into your heart to listen to your own truth.
We are witnessing the collapse of the old world order, and the vibration of each individual will contribute to what we create next. If we vibrate in fear, we create more fear and low-vibrational matches. We will contribute to manifesting our fears. If we vibrate with love and joy, we will contribute to creating more love and joy.
The Full Moon will be conjunct with the asteroid Chiron, the wounded healer, which is also retrograde. Chiron, who was abandoned as a baby, embodies Rumi’s phrase, “the wound is where the light enters you.” Chiron reminds us that even as we travel through the depths of pain, grief, and despair, there is still beauty and joy in the world. Chiron in retrograde conjunct the Aries Full Moon asks us to integrate the wounded shadow aspects of ourselves, to tend and care for them as you would a child.
Because of Chiron’s influence, this Full Moon brings a healing energy, but one that requires surrender. We tend to struggle against reality when faced with challenges, asking “why me?” and throwing ourselves a pity party, making it harder for us to heal. When we surrender to what is, we open ourselves up to receive divine healing from our higher selves and from the universe. If you’re facing challenges in your life, surrender to the process — you may be surprised at the outcomes.
Aries Full Moon ritual — a meditation to connect with your heart
Light a candle, close your eyes, and take a few moments to still your mind and focus on your breath. Call upon your higher self, spirit guides, ancestors, and any deities you may work with to be present and assist you on this healing journey. If you’re concerned about negative energies, repeat this sentence three times: “I command all beings who are not of the light, in the light, or from the light to leave.” Picture a protective bubble surrounding your energetic space. This can take any form you like.
Ground yourself by imagining roots curling out of the soles of your feet and down, down, down into the Earth, past underground rivers and crystal caverns, past chambers of lava, magma, and molten rock, down, down, down into the core of the Earth. Feel that strong, grounded energy calming and centring you, and as you take your next inhale, draw that energy back up and into your body. Notice the calming, grounding effects of connecting to this Gaia energy.
Next, draw your attention to your heart space. You may want to place a hand or even a crystal over your heart to keep your focus there (I love using rose quartz for heart meditations). Breathe as you focus on your heart and feel its energy start to expand as it begins to glow with a bright light. Notice what colour this light is. As you witness it, the light grows bigger and bigger, expanding until it surrounds your whole energy field.
Spend some time connecting with your heart space, observing any images, colours, words or phrases, or even physical sensations that come to you. The language of the heart is subtle, so pay attention to even the smallest details — they all have a deeper meaning that only you can uncover. If you have a question, ask your heart for the answer, making note of anything that comes to you. Even if the answer isn’t immediately obvious, it may make sense to you later on. If nothing comes, don’t worry. You can always return to this meditation and try again, or the answer may come to you through a dream or some other sign.
When you feel ready, ground yourself once again by imagining your roots growing deep into the core of the Earth. Thank any guides or deities who may have presented themselves to you and ask them to anchor any excess energies back into the Earth, transmuting them into healing and love for all who need them.

Thank you for reading this week’s energy update, and I hope you enjoy the new format.
Special thanks to all those who voted in last edition’s poll — unfortunately, for now, there isn’t enough interest in weekly card readings for me to add paid subscriptions, but I am working on an exciting new offering that I’ll be announcing here soon.
Love and blessings,
Victoria
